This mistake can delay your growth
When we were studying at school or university, the teachers and professors used to test our knowledge and readiness through Exams.
In each subject, we used to pass several exams throughout the year, and based on the results we always knew if we were ready and on the right road, or if we were moving in the wrong direction and if a change is needed.
Unfortunately, when it comes to our lives after finishing university, people do not follow the same approach anymore. They keep doing the same things and taking the same actions repeatedly without pausing, reflecting, and evaluating from time to time to see if they are moving in the right direction or if a change is needed.
That’s why a lot of people keep doing what they are always doing and then wonder why they are not getting any different results. And from my point of view, this is one of the most important reasons why people are not improving or reaching the things that they want to reach.
When you are moving through your life journey, it’s easy to get distracted by hundreds of things that you need to do during your days.
But the problem is, if you keep moving with the flow and are distracted by the things that are keeping you busy all the time, you will not have the chance to evaluate your actions and activities and hence improve yourself and correct your direction if needed.
And that’s why you should assign a daily time slot to reflect on the outcome of your day. And at least one time per week to reflect on the outcome of the whole week. And based on the results, you should ask yourself:
Am I moving forward and making progress?
Is my life moving in the direction that I want?
Am I moving one step closer to my goal?
What can I change or do better?
Did I achieve what I want to achieve today/this week?
And if the answer to the first three questions from the five mentioned above is ”no”, or if you found yourself stuck for a long time in the same step or phase of your life, then this is an indication that change is a MUST now in your life.
Change your daily actions and behavior because if you keep doing what you are doing, then you will automatically keep getting what you were always getting, and then you will keep wondering, ‘’why is everything the same and nothing is changing, and when is a positive change going to happen in my life?’’
That’s why changing your actions and strategies is crucial for your growth and for your success in anything that you want to achieve in your life.
But if you will change your actions and behavior, then do it one small step at a time. Taking big major steps or several steps in parallel can overwhelm your brain and make your brain perceive it as a threat and hence get into a defensive mode and freeze.
But what if you are completely stuck? What if you do not even know what your next step should be? Then model the actions of someone who already reached the results that you want to reach.
And ”model the actions” here means checking closely what actions this person is taking or took already to reach these results, and then trying to do them yourself to see their impact on your life.
Start now. Evaluate your actions and where you are in life at this moment. And if a change is needed, you know what you need to do.
